US News Ranking 3x2 1

Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy has moved up in the rankings and is tied for the number one ranked private school of pharmacy in the South according to new national rankings released by U.S. News & World Report. The latest ranking also shows Samford Pharmacy among the country's top 10 private pharmacy schools.

Rankings are based on peer assessment surveys sent to accredited pharmacy school deans, faculty and administrators. McWhorter School of Pharmacy improved its ranking from 65th in 2020 to tie for 60th overall, placing it in the top 50% of pharmacy schools nationally.

“We are pleased to see that colleagues at other pharmacy schools think highly of Samford Pharmacy,” said Michael Crouch, dean of McWhorter School of Pharmacy. “It’s an honor to be ranked among the best private pharmacy schools in the nation.”

The school's high rankings in other publications, such as QS World University and Niche.com, further support the U.S. News ranking. According to QS World University, Samford's pharmacy school is one of the most prestigious pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences schools in the United States, ranked fifth overall in 2023. Niche.com lists the school as 12th in their 2024 Top Colleges for Pharmacy.

McWhorter School of Pharmacy continues to differentiate itself from its peers by offering six dual degree options, including a PharmD/MBA and PharmD/MPH, and various opportunities for students to personalize their degrees to meet their career goals. In addition to the school's novel Practice and Team Ready curriculum, the school started two new research and international pharmacy concentrations this past year.

The school provides state-of-the-art facilities, including the Experiential Learning and Simulation Center, which is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and housed in Samford’s College of Health Sciences. This connection promotes interprofessional education, and pharmacy students train alongside learners from the Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing, the School of Public Health and the School of Health Professions.
